Georgia Dems Block Vote To Opt Out of Federal Mandatory Health Care

By a vote of 34 to 19 the bill was defeated in Georgia’s senate. Citing the 10th amendment of the US Constitution, the Republican bill needed a two-thirds majority to pass a state amendment to opt out of the federal mandated health care bill.

38 other states are considering similar legislation.

Taking the lead from Democrats in Washington, Republicans are considering a reconciliation legislative process, requiring only a majority of Senate members to pass the bill.
