Obamacare Awards Hospitals For Less Senior Care

If it’s a woman’s body and the govt. shouldn’t interfere but should pay for abortions, why isn’t it the seniors body?

On Oct. 1, the Obama administration started awarding bonus points to hospitals that spend the least on elderly patients. It will result in fewer knee replacements, hip replacements, angioplasty, bypass surgery and cataract operations.   These are the five procedures that have transformed aging for older Americans. They used to languish in wheelchairs and nursing homes due to arthritis, cataracts and heart disease. Now they lead active lives.   But the Obama administration is undoing that progress. By cutting $716 billion from future Medicare funding over the next decade and rewarding the hospitals that spend the least on seniors, the Obama health law will make these procedures hard to get and less safe.

In addition to the across-the-board cuts, the Obama administration will now impose a new measure on hospitals: “Medicare spending per beneficiary.” Hospitals that spend the least on seniors get bonus points, and higher-spending hospitals get demerits.   Hospitals will even be penalized for care consumed up to 30 days after patients are discharged, for example, for outpatient physical therapy following a hip or knee replacement.

President Obama seems to think too many seniors are getting these procedures. At a town hall debate in 2009, he told a woman “maybe you’re better off not having the surgery but taking the painkiller.”   Science proves the president is wrong. Knee replacements, for example, not only relieve pain but also save lives. Seniors with severe osteoarthritis who opt for knee replacement are less apt to succumb to heart failure and have a 50% higher chance of being alive five years later than arthritic seniors who don’t undergo the procedure, according to peer-reviewed scientific research

“The United States is a People’s Democracy”

 

REALLY??? What’s going on in our schools?
Recently at a middle school in a suburb of Atlanta, Roswell, a history teacher at Elkins Pointe was teaching a class on the different types of govt. in the world.  The teacher stated the United States is a “People’s Democracy”.  One of the children raised her hand and when the teacher called upon her she stated the United States is a Constitutional Republic.

The teacher attempted to bully and stifle all dissent. 

With one word,”HALLWAY” and a finger point, the child was ordered to leave the class and accompany the teacher to the hallway where she was told under no  conditions was the teacher going to put up with this today. I can only suppose the teacher had had enough of those who support our current system of govt.

THE RELEVANCE OF THE TERM, ”PEOPLE’S DEMOCRACY”  

The meaning of the term ”People’s Democracy” is closely related to  the meaning of the noun, Marxism.
Marxism is defined as,
‘The political and economic philosophy of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in which the concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society’s allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and ultimately classless society.’

 After WW2 , “The People’s Democracy” was a term designated to countries in eastern Europe under the thumb of  Russia’s Communist Red Army. The Red Army was called red, to symbolize the “blood shed by the working class in its struggle against capitalism.” 
In the U.S.,  The People’s Democracy is associated with unions,the Black Liberation movement and theb struggle in Northern Ireland. 
Chinese president, Hu Jintao stated, the”People’s democracy is the life of socialism”.

• Americans are more satisfied with the care they receive than Canadians.  When asked about their own health care instead of the “health care system,” more than half of Americans (51.3 percent) are very satisfied with their health care services, compared to only 41.5 percent of Canadians; a lower proportion of Americans are dissatisfied (6.8 percent) than Canadians (8.5 percent)  More than 70 percent of German, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and British adults say their health system needs either “fundamental change” or “complete rebuilding”
• Nine of 10 middle-aged American women (89 percent) have had a mammogram, compared to less than three-fourths of Canadians (72 percent).
• Nearly all American women (96 percent) have had a pap smear, compared to less than 90 percent of Canadians.
• More than half of American men (54 percent) have had a PSA test, compared to less than 1 in 6 Canadians (16 percent).

The child dramatically moves violently away from the suction tip “which will eventually tear apart and destroy the child.” The child’s heart dramatically speeds up to 200 beats a minute and the child opens it’s mouth in a silent scream. The body is torn from the head.

Georgia Snow Puts Most of the State in Lockdown

Ice, Snow, Atlanta

Well, we have been stuck in our home since Sunday night.  At 8:15 PM everything was fine. By 9:00 it was a winter wonderland.  That’s unusual for Atlanta.  Usually it will snow all night and we will end up with an inch of snow.  It’s usually gone by 3 pm the next day. According to my rain gauge  we got about 7 inches of snow here in Alpharetta Sunday night.  It was followed by some freezing rain and relentless low temps.  We haven’t received any mail since Saturday. 

 The U.S. P.O. was at a standstill and workers did not show up for work until today.  Ditto for UPS and Fed Ex.  No deliveries at my house!  Limited deliveries started today.  Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza were closed on Mon. and Tues. and may still be.  So are most grocery stores. 

D.O.T. Can’t Cope

The D.O.T. focused on the interstate highways.  Many roads, such as Piedmont and Peachtree  pass through the heart of Atlanta and are state roads. They are maintained by the state.  Therefore, the city of Atlanta did not clear these roads.  Businesses,schools and the govt. could not operate.  Still, city schools in Atlanta are closed tomorrow.  Finally on Tuesday, the city of Atlanta contracted with private companies.  Private companies were better equipped to clear the roads and were more efficient.  Three days after the storm many city roads were still impassable.  Some govt. offices across the state opened late. Some still are not open.

Shortage of Kerosene Heaters,Supplies

We held our breath and hoped we would not get over 1/4″ of freezing rain which would probably have cause power outages.  Thank goodness, we didn’t. I looked for a kerosene heater before the storm hit and there was not one for sale in the whole town.  I won’t go through that worry again.  Next time we’ll have a lantern and a heater so if the ice does take the power down we will be nice and toasty and we’ll have light.  The grocery stores that have opened have almost run out of food because they haven’t had any food deliveries.  All perishables are gone in the grocery stores.  A lot of people are running out of food at their homes.  

Most counties haven’t had school since last Friday.  Even  the city schools will still be out tomorrow.  Georgia roads are so hilly and that makes it all the harder to traverse and to clear.  They did get most of  the interstates cleared yesterday.  All transportation but rail was halted and then only limited service.  People stranded at the Greyhound bus station slept on the floor for days.  They complained of no food service at the bus station. Tractor trailers were jackknifed and wrecked everywhere.  Forget about getting your car towed.  I’ve been told wreckers are only responding to emergencies.

 This sign and similar signs have been posted at ironically, green busting electronic stores and at several locations by state and local govts. The stupidity is, the so-called, gas guzzling, polluting cars have to keep driving around looking for a parking space and pass this perfectly good space up. Electric cars aren’t really green. They get their power from electricity. Electricity is generally produced by, God forbid, coal.
